In 2011, I led the development of a collaborative ocean research program called the Nereus Program that brings together seven institutes and their expertise in a wide array of disciplines, from physical oceanography to anthropology. Research partners continue to increase with ten additional institutes planned to be brought into the fold by 2017. With this network, I continue to work on: 1) Marine adaptation strategy under climate change; 2) Protection of human security of indigenous and coastal communities; and 3) Development and implementation of sustainable fisheries and other ocean and coastal resource management.
